Getting started
Is Padeleja free? Do I need an account?
Padeleja is free, with no ads and no in-app purchases. There is no account to create: your matches and players stay on your iPhone.
Which devices does it work on?
iPhone with iOS 17 or later. The Apple Watch app needs watchOS 10 or later and works together with the iPhone app. Padeleja isn’t available for iPad.
Flic button
How do I pair a Flic button?
You need a Flic 2 button (sold separately by Flic). You don’t need the Flic app.
- Make sure Bluetooth is on.
- In Padeleja, open Settings → Flic buttons and tap Pair a new button.
- Press and hold the Flic button for about 6 seconds, until it blinks and pairs.
- The button appears with its battery level. Press it and check that the press shows up in the list.
Then choose Flic button under Keep score with, in Settings or when you set up a new match.
What do click, double-click and hold do?
With one button (the default):
- Click — point for your team
- Double-click — point for the other team
- Hold — undo the last point
With one button per team (choose a team for each button in Settings → Flic buttons): click is a point for that team, double-click is a fault, and hold is undo.
A single click takes a split second to register: the button waits to see whether a second click follows.
My Flic presses don’t do anything.
- Check that Bluetooth is on and the button shows as connected in Settings → Flic buttons.
- A match must be in progress — presses are ignored otherwise.
- The Flic button must be the device keeping score for this match. Other devices show the score, but only one counts points.
- Stay within about 15 metres of the phone. The button reconnects by itself; presses older than 30 seconds are ignored so a late press can’t change the score.
- After the winning point, only hold (undo) works.
- If the battery is low, Padeleja warns you — replace the button’s battery.
The button works with the phone locked in your pocket, and even after the app has been closed.
Apple Watch
How do I set up Padeleja on Apple Watch?
- If Padeleja isn’t on your watch yet, open the Watch app on your iPhone, find Padeleja and tap Install.
- In Padeleja on your iPhone, choose Apple Watch under Keep score with — in Settings, or when you set up a new match.
- Start the match on your iPhone. Padeleja opens on your watch by itself — keep the watch near the iPhone as the match starts.
How do I score on the watch?
- + — point for your side
- − — point for the other side
- ! — fault
- ↺ — undo
A tap on your wrist confirms every point. When another device keeps score, the watch shows the live score and buzzes, but its buttons are switched off.
Does Padeleja record my workout?
Yes, if Record workouts is on (Settings → Apple Watch) and you allow access to Health. Your watch records the match as a workout with heart rate and calories, saves it to Apple Health — so it counts toward your Activity rings — and Padeleja shows it on the match.
The watch must be near your iPhone as the match starts. Apple Watch runs one workout at a time, so starting a match ends any other workout on the watch. Abandoned matches aren’t saved as workouts.
Voice and languages
Which languages does Padeleja speak?
English, Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese — for both the app and the announcer. The English voice is built in; the others download once (about 4 MB each) and then work offline.
The app follows your iPhone’s language; to change it just for Padeleja, use Settings → App language. The announcer can speak a different language: Settings → Voice language.
How do I change or delete a voice language?
Open Settings → Voice language and tap a language to download it and use it. To free up space, swipe left on a downloaded language and tap Delete. If it was the active language, the announcer switches back to English.
The announcer says a name wrong.
Open Players, edit the player and fill in How to say it (optional) — write the name the way it sounds. Padeleja records the name again with that spelling. Until the new recording is ready, your iPhone’s built-in voice says the name.
You can also re-record every name from Settings → Announcer voice → Record all names again.
Can I choose what gets announced?
Yes. Choose in Settings → What gets announced, or switch between Full, Standard and Minimal during a match, right on the match screen.
Backup and restore
How do I back up my matches?
Go to Settings → Backup → Export a backup and save the .padeleja file to Files or iCloud Drive, or send it with AirDrop. It contains all your players (with photos), matches and settings.
Padeleja doesn’t sync to the cloud by itself, so this file is how you keep a copy or move to a new iPhone. It isn’t encrypted: keep it somewhere safe.
How do I restore a backup or move to a new iPhone?
- Put the
.padelejafile on the iPhone (Files, iCloud Drive or AirDrop). - Open Padeleja, go to Settings → Backup → Restore from backup and pick the file.
- Choose Replace everything — erases what’s on this iPhone and restores the file, including your settings — or Merge with current data — keeps what you have and only adds the players and matches that aren’t already there.
Can I export a single match?
Yes. Open the match from History and, under Export, choose Share CSV (one row per point, for Numbers or Excel) or Share JSON (the full match).
Live link
How do I share a live score?
During a match, tap Go live and share the link. Anyone can open it in a browser — no app, no account — and follow the score, who is serving and a point-by-point feed in real time.
Who can see it, and for how long?
Anyone who has the link. Padeleja deletes your live scoreboards once they are more than 24 hours old, the next time you open the app. To have one removed sooner, or if you no longer have the app, email us the link. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
